Voices of God

Dt 30:20   And that you may love the Lord your God,
listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.

The voice of God can be a whisper, rustling like a breeze;
Tenderly it stirs the heart… and brings us to our knees.
It won’t always be an angel, in a halo, sprouting wings;
It could simply be the gentle smile of one, whose spirit sings.

He speaks to us in silence, just the beating of our heart;
That even in the darkness, says… He never will depart.
There are those times, the voice of God must get extremely loud;
So difficult, for Him to be acknowledged by the proud.

Be assured, the truth is all the Lord will ever speak,
And be prepared to hear it, when the voice of God, you seek.
If the voice of God is silence, the problem might be with our ear,
Perhaps the Lord has spoken… what we didn’t want to hear?

Compassion in His voice, the offered shoulder of our brothers.
Wisdom and encouragement, He speaks to us through others.
Sometimes the voice of God is a precise, resounding NO.
He may caution us, “Be still My child”… then gently bid us go.

When silence is the answer… it could simply be our turn;
Patiently He waits for us, there’s something we must learn.
So much that He would tell us – the Spirit longs to talk of it.
The “still small voice” behind me says, “This is the way child; walk in it”.

The heart that hears the voice of God – in listening, rejoices.
The Holy Spirit calls to me… I recognize the voices.
The stirring of His presence, not unlike a floating feather.
When the voice of God is silence – we just spend some time together.

He speaks to us in many ways, we know Him by His Word.
Faith would come by hearing, His voice – meant to be heard.
The Holy Spirit answers us, bringing revelation.
Then in silence… listen for His voice, with expectation.

John 10:4  "When he (a shepherd) has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them,
and his sheep follow him because they know his voice."
Revelation 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me."
Isaiah 30:21 Whether you turn to the  right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This the the way; walk in it."
